The Red River Communications Consortium or RedCOMM for short is a independent organization of Public Safety Experts, Private Industry Technicians, Amateur Radio, and GMRS operators who work together to better Interoperability and Two-Way Communications in Kentucky's Natural Wonderland.

In response to the tragic events of 9/11, legislation was enacted to enhance the interoperability of public safety communication systems and equipment. Congress required that all new or upgraded equipment adhere to specific interoperability standards to ensure seamless coordination among agencies.
Investing in P25 equipment ensures that digital LMR systems are compatible with other P25 systems, particularly those in neighboring regions. Standards-based systems facilitate interoperable communication among emergency responders across different agencies, jurisdictions, and government levels, enabling seamless coordination during routine incidents, large-scale emergencies, and disaster responses.Â
Furthermore, P25 standards offer access to a wider range of competitive vendors, providing greater flexibility and options when purchasing equipment.

Creating a PACE (Primary, Alternate, Contingency, Emergency) communications plan is essential for ensuring reliable and effective communication in any situation.
By establishing multiple layers of communication methods, a PACE plan provides redundancy, ensuring operations can continue even if the primary system fails.
It enhances preparedness for unforeseen events, promotes seamless coordination across teams, and minimizes disruptions during emergencies, making it a critical component of any robust operational strategy.
